The Silver Queen Preservation News, Summer 2006Events Pavilion to complete Hamill Park facility |
|
By Jessica Hendrickson Construction of an events pavilion is well underway at Hamill Park. The pavilion will include public restrooms and a small kitchen facility, thereby making Hamill Park more suitable for weddings, receptions, and other gatherings. Construction this year was made possible thanks to an anonymous donor. Although the pavilion is not complete, it is exciting to see the progress being made. Tim McDonough, owner of Silver Plume Home Services, estimates that the facility will be useable by Labor Day and finished by the end of September. The park grounds are also looking superb, with the flower gardens in full bloom. If you have not seen the grounds in a while, please stop by and visit. Much credit goes to Patti Hestekin and Thomas Johnson for all of their hard work on the park. Space is still available if you would like to purchase a commemorative brick for the donor walk. An engraved brick is a great way to leave a lasting memory. The bricks measure 8 x 4 x 2 inches and cost $125. The engraving is filled with an exterior-rated epoxy grout in order to ensure that the names and messages will not deteriorate. If you would like to purchase a brick or discuss other funding opportunities, please call the HGI office at (303) 569-2840. |
Summer's glory: Construction of the pavilion has dominated the north side of the park since May. But the annuals and perennials have responded well to this summer's early rains. |
