Centennial Mill rehabilitation
marred by tragedy

By Matt Skeen, HGI Board Chairman

Our readers have been receiving periodic updates on the rehabilitation of the Centennial Mill, the last industrial building inside the Town of Georgetown. On this occasion our enthusiasm is greatly subdued by the untimely death of Jason DeCanto, age 33, on November 11, 2004. Jason was working on the Centennial Mill project when he fell from the roof. He is survived by two teenage sons, for whom an account has been set up at Clear Creek National Bank, Georgetown.

A plaque will be placed at the renovated Centennial Mill by Historic Georgetown, Inc., and Silver Plume Home Services, the contractor for the project. We feel deep sympathy for Jason's family. Jason was a friend and an important part of our community.
